Another full day of cub scount camp for Noah. After crashing out "early" last night (10:30), Noah was still asleep when revelry sounded this morning. Guess the full day Monday wore him out.
Breakfast was a bad combo for Noah... green eggs, ham, and hash browns. Nothing that Noah normally eats. He ate a few bites of ham, but that was about it.
Morning was structured activities with the troop and troop leader, Tony. They did BB's and Order of Light training.
Lunch was also something that Noah doesn't like, but he told me he made himself 2 bolognie and ketchup sandwichs.
Afternoon was on to Noah's standard electives: Archery, BB's and "something", with priority on the first two :). The "something" today was rocket building to support at rocket launch tomorrow. Rocket building seemed to be a challenge, there wind was high which caused a lot of the parts to constainly blow away, which I think frustrated him. The instructions were also not very easy. When I checked on him with about 15min left, he still had a ways to go, so we packed it up and agreed to work on it later in the day.
Noah was the waiter for dinner, something that I am beginning to think he doesn't like :). It took some encouragement to get him to do the task he needed to do. He got it all eventually done :).
After dinner was the Pack's first shower day since we arrived at camp. Much needed. Adults are not allowed in the youth shower area, so Noah and his pack-mates all went in and managed themselves. Each gets a stall with some privacy, which is nice. Of course, Noah took his own time in there, and took about twice as long as the other kids with a mix of playing and dealing with where to put his stuff so it didn't get wet. Overall, he did pretty good. This may have been the first camp shower that he has done, so some learning experience was involved.
After showers, it was free time with the troop. I reminded Noah about needing to finish his rocket. Noah showed some real maturity at that point, he chose to build the rocket even though he really wanted to play with the rest of the troop. We went down to the dining hall where the other part of the Umpqua troop had setup a rocket working area (we were not the only ones who didn't finish). We worked together to get the rocket mostly assembled.
After that, it was some time for much deserved free time. Once back at camp, he ask several boys to play Star Flux, which we had introduced a few of them to the night before. It was a good game, about 45 min long, and attracked several other onlookers from the troop. Once again, Noah ended up winning (somehow he almost always wins), but this time because another player had to play one of 2 cards, both of which allowed him to win.
Then to lights out... and hopefully some sleep.
