A kid salute to MLKjr

On the way back from skiing today, we told the kids that they didn't have to go to school tomorrow. They said "Oh yes, it is Martin Luther King day.  Yay!"

Sara and I, deciding to find out a little more about what they know about MLK, ask the kids, "Can you tell us who was Martin Luther King Jr.?"

Noah chimed in first, "Uhm... yeh.  He was the one that pulled the sword from the stone.  After he did that, he became the king.  It was awesome."

Sara and I used all our willpower to keep from laughing at that one.  After a minute to regain our composure, Sara said, "Noah, I think you are talking about King Arther, not Martin Luther King.  But that was a good answer".

Then Katy offered her thoughts, "He was a friend to people with dark-colored skin".  Sara and I where astonished by her answer.
